Rasika Mathias

Dr. Mathias is Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Zoology at Stella Maris College in India and her ScM and ScD in Genetic Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Mathias underwent her postdoctoral training at the National Human Genome. She has a specific interest in the genetics of complex diseases in populations of African ancestry and leads numerous efforts utilizing next generation sequencing as the new frontier in understanding genetic determinants of human health and disease. Her lab applies integrative approaches bringing together DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, methylation, and proteomics.
